Tony Lamberti: Ready to Conquer Die Groot Trap Cycling Event with his Winspace SLC 2.0 Bike
Die Groot Trap is back, and it’s bigger and better than ever! Taking place on April 2, 2023, this cycling event promises to be an unforgettable experience for all who participate. With three new routes to choose from, cyclists of all levels can take part in this exciting race.
One rider who is eagerly looking forward to the event is Anthony Lamberti. Competing in the 60-69 age category, Tony will be riding the 65km route on his Winspace SLC 2.0 bike in Pearl White. This lightweight bike weighs in at just 6.8kgs, making it the perfect choice for a challenging race like Die Groot Trap.
Tony is no stranger to the cycling world, having started riding in 2019 and competing seriously since August 2020. He has achieved some impressive results in 2023, winning the Montecasino race in his age group on February 5, the Dischem Ride for Sight on February 19, and the Emperors Palace race on March 26.
Die Groot Trap is proudly supported by GROOTfm 90.5, Sun Arena Time Square, and the Pretoria Traffic Department. The event starts at Sun Arena Time Square in Pretoria East, which boasts an incredible race village with a great atmosphere. With ample parking and depth in infrastructure, it comfortably accommodates up to 9000 cyclists.
The race offers three different distances to suit all abilities, with the 105km route offering a total ascent of 995m, the 65km route offering 640m vertical ascent, and the new 17km route presenting 210m of climbing. For the younger riders, there is also a 500m kiddies race available.
Event logistics and route control are managed by De Villiers National Cycling and Lenick Promotions. The race will be timed by RaceTec, and riders will be seeded in bunches according to the Cycle Events National Seeding Ladder.
Number collection for the event will take place at Sun Arena Time Square, accompanied by an expo featuring cycling-related products from various event partners. Number collection dates are as follows: Thursday, March 30, from 09h00 – 16h00, Friday, March 31, from 09h00 – 16h00, and Saturday, April 1, from 09h00 – 15h00.
